Prenatal Massage

Pregnancy is a beautiful time, but it can also be taxing on the body. Prenatal massage is one of the best ways to take care of yourself and your baby during this special time.

Women may be wary of receiving a message while pregnant. My prenatal massages are designed especially for the pregnant body. In addition to my 300 plus hours of study at the Texas Massage Institute and Sterling Health Center, I am also Certified especially to work with women during pregnancy through Bodywork for the Childbearing Years at the Lauerstein-Conway School of Massage in Austin.

Prenatal massage:

  • provides relief from extra weight gain
  • reduces common discomforts such as edema, pain in the sacroiliac joints and hips, and sore feet
  • assists the heart with blood circulation
  • improves the nutrition of the muscle tissues
  • reduces water retention, while stimulating the lymphatic system to assist in the elimination of toxins and other waste products in the body

What you can expect

At the beginning of each session, we will have a brief consultation. This is your opportunity to let me know if you’re feeling discomfort or pain in a particular area. Prenatal clients will begin in a side-lying position after the first trimester and then are comfortably moved to a semi-reclining position. Conservative draping is always used, exposing only the body part that is being worked on.
